David Childs
Professional Information
David Childs was admitted to practice in 1979 and specialised in family law from the 1980s.
He worked in private practice before joining the Legal Aid Commission of WA as solicitor in charge of Family Law. He then returned to private practice and he was accredited, in 1992 as one of the first Family Law specialists in WA.
In 2004, after 14 years at the family law firm Paterson & Dowding, where he was a partner, he joined the WA Bar Association and commenced practice as a barrister specialising in Family law and related areas.
David has been a member of the Family Law Practitioners Association of WA since its inception.
He has extensive experience in children's matters including as Independent Children’s Lawyer. David also has expertise in property matters in the Family Court, particularly rural property .
